Hi! My name is Kara and I’m the solo designer and yarn dyer behind Smiley Goose Designs and Smiley Goose Fibers. I became obsessed with crochet many years ago and (usually) can’t go a day without it. You can find me most often curled up on the sofa with my current wip. When I’m not crocheting, I love to read, decorate cakes, outings to Target, and spending time with family/friends.

Thought I do a little intro Q & A style:

1. Favorite Color – I love purple! Mainly jewel tones and bold colors but nothing super bright.

2. Favorite Yarn – I love any sock, sport, DK, or worsted yarn and usually from Hobby Lobby or Lion Brand. If I had to name just one it would be Yarn Bee Sweet Divinity.

3. Favorite Craft Storage – cube storage! My hubs also got me this cute collapsible storage caddy from Joann’s for around the house. It fits 2-3 projects while I crochet on the sofa or wherever I may be. I will be in need of a travel bag soon and I have been eyeing Jimmy Bean’s Wool Namaste collection.

4. Favorite WIP(s) – I really love triangle scarves and Tunisian crochet at the moment. MijoCrochet’s Lost in Time Shawl had me hooked! I usually have 2-3 wips going at a time and 1 has to be Tunisian.

5. Favorite Craft Store – Hobby Lobby is my top pick with JoAnn’s a close second. I never leave Hobby Lobby empty handed (yarn or whatever craft) and you can almost always catch me there stocking up the week yarn is on sale.

6. Favorite TV Show – Grey’s Anatomy, and just about any medical or cop drama. 

7. Favorite Food – chips with cheese dip and always, always, always pizza!

8. Favorite Book – Pride and Prejudice (just about anything by Jane Austen).

9. Favorite Drink – coffee, coffee, and more coffee with the occasional frozen strawberry or prickly pear margarita.

10. Future Goals – I hope my future holds many more crochet patterns and a better understanding/technique for yarn dyeing. And, more importantly, loyal customers who inspire me to keep doing what I’m doing!!
