Concept and Design

I fell in love with corner to corner (C2C) crochet a few years ago and wish that I had more time to complete projects like this. I have several ideas and good intentions, but life, right?! 😊 I actually designed this blanket last year and forgot about it. It wasn’t until I opened a folder called “ideas” that I found it again, and a few other gems, too! Anyway, this is my first C2C scene rather than just making a giraffe with a solid background. I have to say that I really like how it came out. The giraffe baby blanket is a generously sized and will last well into the toddler years.

Below you will find the graph to make this blanket and border instructions. However, if you are new to C2C or this blanket is more difficult than you have attempted before – you can find this listing in my shop (linked below) that includes 2 PDFs. The 8 page pattern PDF includes the graph, a row-by-row color guide, and working photos for the border. The 2nd PDF is all about Corner to Corner crochet with helpful tips. You can purchase extra skeins or bobbins to help with color changes.

Yarn

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know that I love WeCrochet’s Brava worsted yarn. It’s so soft and squishy, affordable, and comes in a ton of different colors. It’s my go-to worsted yarn for several projects as of late.  I chose bright colors for mine but you can most definitely switch them up to put a fun spin on your blanket.

Of course, you can substitute with any worsted (#4) weight yarn for this project.

Thank you to WeCrochet for providing the yarn for this project!

With Dove Heather, attach anywhere between blocks with a sl st. On the first round, you will work all SC in the space between blocks.

Round 1: Ch 1 and SC into the same space – place stitch marker. *Ch 2 and SC in next space between blocks. Repeat from * around your project. When you reach each corner, [SC, ch 2, SC] all in the corner st. Join with a sl st to first SC.

Round 2: Ch 1 and SC into same as join stitch. Work 2 SC around each ch-2 from the previous round. Be sure to work your sts around the chain and not in any loops. Continue around working a SC in previous SCs and 2 SC in each ch-2 sp. When you reach each corner ch-2 sp, work [SC, ch 2, SC] all in that space. Join with a Sl St to first SC.

Finish off and weave in all ends.
