The Heart C2C Pillow is a new crochet pattern that works up quickly and is the perfect Valentine’s Day make. Read through to find out all the details, or scroll to the bottom for the pattern!

Concept and Design

The Heart C2C Pillow is a great stash busting project! I made a baby blanket and bought extra yarn which I then used to make some beanies but I still had yarn left over so – insert pillow idea. (I really like to use up every bit of yarn if you can’t tell 😊)

I fell in love with corner-to-corner crochet (C2C) years ago and really wish that I made time to create more of my own C2C designs. The Heart C2C Pillow works up quickly by making 2 18-inch panels then seaming them together and inserting a pillow form. I added a pretty Picot border but you can seam with your favorite method!

Note: Please be sure to match your gauge to mine so that your panels are the right size to fit your 18-inch square pillow insert.

Yarn

I used Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek Chunky in Ivory and Blush for the Heart C2C Pillow. This line is one of my favorites from Hobby Lobby. Soft & Sleek is available in Dk, worsted, and bulky. All are super soft and come in gorgeous colors.

Of course, you can substitute with any bulky (#5) weight yarn for this project.

Step 1: With Ivory, make the solid panel below using the graph below. Or, complete by increasing both sides for 19 rows. Then decrease both sides until the square is completed. Do not tie off; continue to Panel Border section.

Step 2: Make the heart panel using the below graph, or the Row-by-Row Color Guide on the next page. Do not tie off; continue to Panel Border section.

Panel Border

Ch 1. Alternate working 2 SC in first block and 3 SC in next block around your panel. When you reach the corners, ch 2 and continue working along next side. Sl st to first SC.

Tie off and weave in all ends.

Step 3: I chose a simple SC border in Blush to seam my panels. Feel free to join in your preferred method (i.e. mattress stitch, slip stitch). I added Picots on my border. I like them every 3 stitches (personal preference) but had to work 4 SC in between when I got to each corner. It will not be noticeable if you have to vary them at the corners.

Line up both panels with the right side of the SC border facing out. Join Blush anywhere with a slip stitch. Be sure to work through the stitches on both panels so that there are no gaps.

Ch 1 and SC into the same join space – place stitch marker if needed. SC in each of the next 2 sts. Ch 2, sl st to first ch (Picot made). *SC in each of the next 3, Picot. Repeat from * around. When you reach each corner, [SC, Picot, SC] all in the corner ch-2 sp. After completing 3 sides, insert the pillow form and work last side. Join with a sl st to first SC.

Finish off and weave in all ends.
