Declan Triangle Scarf Crochet Pattern

Declan Triangle Scarf
Posted by Kara

The Declan triangle scarf is a new crochet pattern that works great as a stash buster, or for using up those mini skeins you’ve been collecting. Read through to find out all the details!

Concept and Design

When I was designing the Declan asymmetrical triangle scarf, I really wanted to keep the stitches simple and let the color blocks do all the work. The construction is beginner friendly and makes for a great mindless, binge watching project.  The pattern is easily adaptable with a 2 row repeat so you can use as many color sections as you wish to your desired dimensions. I just separated each color section with a few rows of white for contrast. The color combos are endless!!

Yarn

Awhile back, I purchased a set of Nicole Hue Loco’s Color Riot yarn in Muir. Each skein is 50g (4 colors) totaling 2 sock weight skeins, or 800 yards total. She has some really beautiful mini sets that would all look gorgeous! You can totally use whatever yarn you have though – 25g minis, leftover yarn from your stash, or a few skeins in your favorite colors. It’s so hard to find sock weight yarn in stores, left alone a solid white – I actually used a DK weight yarn that I already had. It is slightly noticeable but only to the trained eye. 😉

Declan Triangle Scarf

When making triangle scarves, I really love the drape you get from thinner weight yarns. Ideally, the Declan triangle scarf can be made with any #1-4 weight yarn that you have on hand. Just know that your hook size and yardage will vary from mine.

Materials Needed

  • Ideally, any sock, sport, DK, or worsted weight (#1-4) yarn should work for this project. I used Nicole Hue Loco’s hand dyed yarn Color Riot featuring Muir (4 50g skeins in sock #1 weight), 200 yards in each color = 800 yards). Each color block is separated by Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek Dk in Ivory, approximately 65 yards.
  • US size E/4 (3.5 mm) hook, or recommended hook for yarn used.
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker (optional)
