The Romy asymmetrical triangle scarf is a new Tunisian crochet pattern that has tons of beautiful texture. Read through to find out all the details!

Concept and Design

I learned Tunisian crochet late last year and it has become one of my favorite ways to crochet. I have tried to knit several times over the years and I never could quite get the hang of it. Tunisian is the perfect compromise and there are so many new stitches to learn and experiment with! The Romy triangle scarf is worked up using Tunisian full stitch. I have included working pictures and an extra PDF with Tunisian crochet tips to help you complete this project. This scarf is very customizable in that you can make it to your desired dimensions with a 2 row repeat.

Yarn

I purchased several Hobbii Twister cakes awhile back and this was the last one from my stash. I really love using lighter weight yarns for triangle scarves; mainly because of the beautiful drape but also so the scarf isn’t super bulky around my neck. The Twister cake is a #2 sport weight but is rather thin more like a #1 sock weight yarn. Ideally, I would think any #1-#4 (sock to worsted) weight yarn would work for this project. If you decide to use a thicker yarn than what I used for my sample, please keep in mind that you will need a larger hook and yardage will vary. Please also note that with Tunisian crochet, you typically go up 1 to 1.5 hook size(s) than recommended on the yarn label.

I love using variegated yarn because you get so much color and very few ends to weave in (only 2 ends using this Twister cake!!). I planned on using the entire cake and made my scarf as large as possible so that very little, if any, yarn was left.  I don’t know about you, but I love when a project uses up every bit of a skein, or skeins. Whether you choose solid or variegated yarn, the texture still shines through and your scarf will look amazing!

Materials Needed

  • Ideally, any sock, sport, DK, or worsted weight (#1-4) yarn should work for this project. I used a Hobbii Twister cake (#2 sport) in color 07, approximately 1090 yards.
  • US size 4.5 mm Tunisian Crochet hook, or recommended size for yarn used.
  • 36 inch cord with stopper
  • Tapestry needle
