The Quinn baby blanket is a new Tunisian crochet pattern that has tons of beautiful texture. Read through to find out all the details!

Concept and Design

The Quinn baby blanket is made in Tunisian honeycomb stitch which is a personal favorite of mine. It’s made with basic stitches and a simple 2 row repeat so you can easily customize this blanket to your desired dimensions. I also love that it’s one of the few Tunisian stitches that doesn’t curl badly which makes it easier to work up and block your finished piece. If you are new to Tunisian, or have never made the Tunisian purl stitch, I have included a lot of working pictures and an extra PDF with Tunisian crochet tips to help you complete this project.

If you are also a honeycomb lover, I have the Ren scarf and Ren cowl patterns available. 😊

Yarn

I found this Baby Bee Darling Dear yarn in my local Hobby Lobb store. I liked the gender neutral/rainbow colors used in the colorway I chose (Dollies & Parasols) and the fun texture of this yarn. It’s a bit crinkly on its own and worked up in Tunisian honeycomb very nicely. I would think any variegated baby yarn would work up nicely in this stitch. I love using variegated yarn because you get so much color and very few ends to weave in.

You can substitute any Dk (#3) weight yarn will work for this blanket. Ideally, any weight yarn can be used – just know that your starting chains, hook size, and yardage will vary from mine. Whether you choose solid or variegated yarn, the texture still shines through and your blanket will look amazing!

Materials Needed

  • Any Dk (#3) weight yarn, approximately 1400 yards. I used Hobby Lobby’s Baby Bee Darling Dear in Dollies & Parasols (5 skeins).
  • US size I/9 (5.5 mm) Tunisian Crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • 24 – 36 inch cord with stopper
  • Tapestry needle
