Nola Wrap

The Nola wrap is a stunning new crochet pattern using the corner to corner crochet technique. Read through to find out all the details!

Concept and Design

I learned to crochet corner to corner (C2C) a few years back and really fell in love with it! It’s a great technique to incorporate lots of color, pictures, and lettering into your projects. Each block is made of 3 double crochets and the subsequent blocks are worked into the chain 3 spaces diagonally. If you are new to C2C, I also include a How to Crochet Corner to Corner PDF with your purchase of the Nola wrap which walks you through color changes, increasing/decreasing, and includes several working pictures.

Nola Wrap

This is a great beginner friendly C2C project because you only work with one color at a time. I really liked the look of a lighter/vibrant color contrasting with a darker, complimentary color. It leaves an endless amount of color combos to choose from! I made this wrap slightly wider and longer than my past designs. It is very comfortable as a wrap/shawl, and can easily be worn as oversized scarf.

Yarn

Several beautiful Lion Brand’s Comfy Cotton blend yarn projects kept popping up my Instagram feed that I wanted to try it. Since I already had this design in mind, I thought Spectrum and Stained Glass paired well together.  ( I also think Flower Garden would have been really pretty with Spectrum.) Regardless of which combo you choose, your Nola wrap will be stunning!

You can use any DK (#3) or worsted (#4) weight yarn for this wrap.  Just know that your hook size and yardage will vary from mine if you use worsted weight yarn.

Materials Needed

  • Any medium worsted (#4) or DK (#3) weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend in Stained Glass (2 skeins, or 495 yds) and Spectrum (2 skeins, or 575 yds).
  • US size H-8 (4.5 mm) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker (optional)
