The Maxwell scarf is a new crochet pattern that has tons of beautiful texture. Read through to find out all the details!
Concept and Design
I don’t make many long/traditional scarves but when I came across this stitch I thought it would be a perfect fit! The Maxwell scarf uses a fun cluster stitch that combines both a double crochet and half double crochet. It creates this beautiful texture that would look pretty in many types of projects besides a scarf. The PDF pattern includes a step-by-step photo tutorial to help you complete the cluster stitch. The Maxwell scarf is very customizable in that you can make it to your desired dimensions with a 2 row repeat. Fringe is optional 😊
Yarn
For this project, I used Yarn Bee Sugarwheel in Petits Fours Galore. I found this yarn on one of my many long walks down Hobby Lobby’s yarn aisles. 😂 It’s incredibly soft and comes in many beautiful color combos. Any worsted (#4) weight yarn will work for this scarf. I love using variegated yarn because you get so much color and very few ends to weave in. Whether you choose solid or variegated yarn, the texture still shines through and your scarf will look amazing!
Materials Needed
- Any medium worsted (#4) weight yarn, approximately 525 yards. I used Hobby Lobby’s Yarn Bee Sugarwheel in Petits Fours Galore (2 cakes).
- US size H/8 (5mm) hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry needle
