The Leighton ear warmer is a new crochet pattern that works up quickly and has tons of texture. Read through to find out all the details!
Concept and Design
I love a great stash busting project and the Leighton ear warmer does not disappoint! I first used this beautiful stitch for the Leighton baby blanket last year and fell in love. It’s so elegant and unique that I wanted to incorporate it into another design. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am not the biggest fan of wearing beanies because of my short hair. 🤷♀️ However, I do love a great ear warmer! (That cold winter wind really makes my ears hurt!!)
The Leighton ear warmer pattern includes 3 sizes: toddler, child, and teen/adult. The ear warmer is worked flat and the ends sewn together to finish. These ear warmers work up very quickly and will soon be a new favorite. They make great stocking stuffers and easy craft fair makes!
Yarn
I first used Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn for my Rosalie Shawl and absolutely loved it! For the Leighton ear warmer, I used Enstatite, Deep Amethyst, and Obsidian. This yarn worked really well to make these ear warmers because there isn’t a ton of stretch to it (78% cotton / 22% acrylic blend). Nobody wants an overstretched ear warmer that doesn’t fit! 😂 The color choices are endless and are all so pretty. Scheepjes River Washed yarn also looks amazing!
You can substitute any sport weight yarn of your choosing.
Materials Needed
- Any sport (#2) weight yarn. I used Scheepjes Stone Washed in Enstatite (1/2 skein) for the Toddler size, Deep Amethyst (1/2 skein) for the Child size, and Obsidian (3/4 skein) for the Teen/Adult size. Approximately 70 – 105 yards depending on size.
- US size 6 (4 mm) hook, or hook needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry needle
