I had the pleasure of pattern testing Meghan Ballmer’s aka MeghanMakesDo new crochet cardigan, the Malloy Cardi. Read on for more details!

Malloy Cardi Review

This cardigan was so much fun to make! It may seem daunting to make a fingering/sock weight sweater but it is so worth it, and it really didn’t take that much longer to make.  The design and color changes truly make this a unique sweater and you will definitely be wearing it for years to come!

The Malloy Cardi is an intermediate pattern because you have to follow color charts for both the body of the sweater and sleeves as well as keep up with increases and seaming. I used the recommended yarn from Hobby Lobby (Pigment + Fiber) only in a different colorway, Lavender Daze. This yarn is so soft and the color combinations are so pretty – it will be a tough decision for sure!

The pattern includes sizing from XS thru 5X and fits true to size with no positive ease. I have made several cardigans in the past and the sleeves are always too long or the body is too bulky. I can truly say that this sweater fits so well! The body and sleeve lengths are perfect and the sock weight yarn really makes for a warm and comfortable wear.

I really enjoyed testing this pattern for Meghan. If you are looking for lightweight sweater with beautiful texture and colors, this cardigan will make a great addition to your wardrobe!
