The Rosalie shawl is a new crochet pattern with beautiful Fall colors and great texture. Read through to find out all the details!
Concept and Design
I really enjoy making oversized shawls and the Rosalie shawl is hands down one of my all time favorites! The Fall colors combined with the color blocking and texture of the stitches truly make this a unique piece. The Rosalie shawl is made using basic crochet stitches but working in a side/back loop creates the braided texture that is just stunning!
The Rosalie shawl is worked from the top down, working one slanted side, a chain 2 space, and then working the second slanted side. You can easily make this shawl any size using the 2 row repeat until your desired dimensions. As with any of my designs, you can always add a fun border, tassels, or fringe to make your shawl one of a kind!
Yarn
I have loved the look of Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn since I first laid eyes on it. The vintage/rustic look and all the beautiful colors were just mesmerizing! I first bought a mini skein sampler pack to see the colors in person and how they paired together. I thought Obsidian, Coral, and Yellow Jasper made such a beautiful Fall palette. As you can tell from my other triangle designs that I really like to color block my scarves but you don’t have to. I think this shawl would also look amazing in a solid color or with variegated yarn.
Of course you can always substitute with any yarn and weight of your choosing. Just know that your hook size and yardage will vary from mine.
Materials Needed
- Ideally, any sock, sport, DK, or worsted weight (#1-4) yarn should work for this project. I used Scheepjes Stone Washed (sport, #2) yarn in Obsidian (5 skeins, or 675 yards), Coral (4 skeins, or 500 yards), and Yellow Jasper (3 skeins, or 350 yards).
- US size G-6 (4 mm) hook, or recommended hook size for yarn used
- Tapestry needle
