The Retro triangle scarf is a new crochet pattern with beautiful colors and texture. Read through to find out all the details!
Concept and Design
If you are familiar with any of my patterns, you know that I love making triangle scarves/wraps! They are the perfect layering piece and can pretty much be worn all year long. The Retro triangle scarf is made using just 1 stitch so it makes this design a really great beginner/easy level pattern. It also makes this a great weekend or Netflix binge-worthy project that you will have finished in no time!
The Retro triangle scarf is worked from the top down, working to the center stitch marker and then through to the other side. Traditionally, I use a chain 2 space to make the middle point of the triangle but decided to try it without for this project. Removing the chain 2 space makes a smoother/rounder bottom edge to your scarf and a bit of a steeper slant than my usual triangle designs. You can also easily make the Retro triangle scarf to any size using the 1 row repeat until your desired dimensions. And, there is an option to add tassels if you wish (I only added 2 but you could easily add 3).
Yarn
I moved over the summer and as I was unpacking my stash, I came across this yarn. I do usually buy yarn first and then figure out the project later, and these skeins were set aside and forgotten. Anyway, I thought they gave off a very 90s vibe that reminded me of track suits and outfits worn in Saved by the Bell (not a bad thing – I loved the 90s!!) thus the name I gave it. I think this scarf would look great in a solid color, striped/color blocked, or with any variegated yarn that catches your eye. 😉
You can always substitute with any yarn and weight of your choosing, I would think any sock thru worsted (#1-4) weight yarn will work fine for this scarf. Just keep in mind that if you use a different weight yarn, your yardage and hook size will vary from mine.
Materials Needed
- Any worsted (#4) weight yarn will work for this project. I used Hobby Lobby’s I love this Yarn Print in Moody Mosaic (4 skeins, approximately 820 yards).
- US size H-8 (5 mm) hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
