The Elsie throw blanket is a new Tunisian crochet pattern with beautiful texture. Read through to find out all the details!
Concept and Design
If you love Tunisian crochet and beautiful texture then look no further! Last year, I designed a baby blanket in panels using Tunisian simple stitch (the Casia baby blanket). It was so much fun and worked up quickly in panels rather than making individual squares and sewing them together later. I knew I wanted to make a throw blanket size but using my favorite stitch – Tunisian honeycomb. I decided to keep the patchwork layout and chose the yarn knowing it was for this blanket.
The Elsie throw blanket is completely customizable because you decide how many stitches wide and long each square/rectangle will be. Then you make as many or as little panels to achieve your dimensions.
Yarn
I used Hobby Lobby’s Yarn Bee Bamboo-tiful in Rose, Sea Green, and Linen. These beautiful jumped out at me one day in the store and I couldn’t pass them up. The yarn is beautiful and has a nice sheen to it and it’s incredibly soft. The only downside is that it splits often and easily. Any color combo would look amazing for this blanket!
Ideally, any weight yarn can be substituted for this project. Just know that your hook size and yardage will vary from mine.
Materials Needed
- Any DK or thin worsted weight (#3-4) yarn should work for this project. I used Hobby Lobby’s Yarn Bee Bamboo-tiful (#3) in Rose (4 skeins, or 965 yards), Sea Green (4 skeins, or 965 yards), and Linen (4 skeins, or 1025 yards).
