The Ari asymmetrical triangle scarf is a new Tunisian crochet pattern with beautiful texture fun colorwork. Read through to find out all the details!
Concept and Design
Tunisian crochet has become such a favorite for me lately. If you haven’t tried it before, all my Tunisian triangles are beginner friendly and great projects to get your feet wet so to speak. You will definitely be hooked once you try it, especially if you knitting a challenge!! The Ari triangle scarf is worked up using Tunisian knit stitch. I have included working pictures and an extra PDF with Tunisian crochet tips to help you complete this project. This scarf is very customizable in that you can make it to your desired dimensions with a 2 row repeat.
This pattern is very similar to my Marisol triangle – only the Ari scarf uses a smaller hook, different weight yarn making the overall scarf smaller, and includes striping/colorwork. You can choose to omit the colorwork if you wish, or add in more striping and colors to make it one of a kind.
Yarn
I came across this yarn in Hobby Lobby and thought the tweed like appearance was so pretty. Then I picked it up and found the yarn to be so soft that I knew I had to make something with it. It’s called Yarn Bee Warm & Cozy in Blush and Parchment. There are several other pretty colors in this line that would pair well together. It’s a worsted (#4) weight yarn but is on the thinner side so I would think a DK (#3) weight yarn would also work the same. Ideally, you could substitute any weight yarn (#1-4) just know your hook size, yardage, and colorwork rows will differ from mine. Meaning, 10 rows in worsted might mean 15-20 in sock weight. Please also note that with Tunisian crochet, you typically go up 1 to 1.5 hook size(s) than recommended on the yarn label.
Materials Needed
- Ideally, any sock, sport, DK, or worsted weight (#1-4) yarn should work for this project. I used Hobby Lobby’s Yarn Bee Warm & Cozy (#4 worsted) in Blush (3 skeins) and Parchment (3 skeins). Approximately 650 yards of each color, or 1300 yards total.
- US size H (5 mm) Tunisian Crochet hook, or recommended size for yarn used.
- 24-36 inch cord with stopper
- Tapestry needle
